Extensions

You can automatically extend the due date of your federal income or estate tax return. The extension of the time to file the return does not extend the due date of any taxes due.

California gives taxpayers an automatic filing extension through October 15, 2013. You don't need to apply for one. However, any taxes due must be paid by April 15, 2013.
